Today we interviewed Ashley, founder of @MelaninOnTheMap, a minority travel APP showing travelers how to travel more, travel for less, and get paid. Ashley is a Howard University graduate, producer, and founder of Melanin on the Map. She grew up first generation American, with parents of Caribbean descent. Culture and travel has been a passion of hers from a young age, having traveled to over 10 countries before the age of 25. Ashley realized the positive impact travel has had on her life throughout the years, which soon led her into a career helping other minorities experience the same.

He is the host of In Living Color… Abroad, a podcast where black and brown people from all over the world tell their stories about travel and living abroad. She first moved at a young age and then returned during her freshman and sophomore year of high school. Travel essentially relies on burning fossil fuels everything from your flight, to accommodations, and even certain excursions can contribute to climate change and other environmental issues. It’s important that we don’t overlook these issues and take into consideration what our environmental impact will be from the trips we take.
